I hate that creeping cold… Itchy ear canals and a deep, mild haze of oncoming congestion…
I’ve kept full-blown colds at bay with my cold-killer tea and I think it’s time to share my recipe!
I get empty tea bags and bulk herbs at a local health food store and I’m sure you can do the same.
Fresh ginger root
“fancy” peppercorns - this should be a blend of white, black, green, and pink
I sometimes use the Ginger fresh, but it’s much more potent if it’s chopped and dried before use. Also, if you have chamomile or peppermint in your garden, this is a great way to make use of it in the winter (wink)
In each teabag, add 1/4 tsp fresh Ginger or 1/8 tsp dried Ginger
1/2 tsp each peppercorns, chamomile, and peppermint
steep tea as desired
Finally, squeeze about 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice into your steeped tea and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey (if you can get your hands on the stuff, they have a honey that has pollen and royal jelly in it, too - it’s not as sweet, but the benefits!!!).
The boy swears the lemon makes it taste terrible, but you really need that punch of vitamin c!
I usually take two cups a day for three days at the first signs of a cold and it’s gone!
