I took a break, er, maybe a hiatus? from teaching back when I first decided to make the book a priority and started actively working on my concept and proposal. With the book wedged neatly in the editing phase, I feel good about getting back into the classroom. If you're a local, you're probably already familiar with Homespun Indy! I currently offer five different classes that will be starting rotation at Homespun in November.
I'm really excited about the new class line-up that includes the basic Knitting 101 and three different stitch classes in varying degrees of difficulty going through the basics of chart reading for lace and cables to short rows and color stranding techniques. I also have a class that teaches some lesser known knitting stitches like lateral and latvian braids. However, I'm most excited about the hat design course! I'm so excited in fact, that I'm working up a pattern of sorts that is geared toward new designers. It provides a basic hat template for sizes Newborn to Adult Large with instructions for Lace weight yarn to Super Bulky. Gauge, needles, and cast-on instructions - even crown shaping formulas - are all provided.
In other knitterly news, I'm zipping through some designs for Zealana yarns and a little article for one of their upcoming catalogs. If you've never had your hands on this stuff, you MUST find it. I can't even describe how sinful the yarn is. I'm currently working with the Air Lace - you know, cashmere and bushtail down and silk... what ever. I seriously feel my teeth tingling with the urge to bite into the ball like a doughnut. Chomp. So, needless to say, I'm enjoying knitting these samples.
Now, I really should get back to work - Have a safe and diabetes-inducing Halloween this Friday!! x
