This hip length cardigan is worked from the top down using a yoke increase I’ve been fiddling with in my mind for months before working out the details specifically for this piece. It’s truly a circular yoke with evenly spaced yarn over increases that create a unique stitched effect. Sleeves and body are worked simply in Stockinette st, and the back detail at the waist breaks up the sea of Stockinette. Pockets are optional, but highly recommended! The front bands are worked in a two color mosaic knitting pattern so that each color is used the entire length of the row incorporating slipped stitches to form the design. The Diamond Back Mosiac pattern is fully charted and can be found on the last page of the pattern.
Though this would be a challenging piece for any beginning knitter, it is cozy, wearable, and worth every stitch of effort. Since finishing my sample, I’ve worn it nearly every day of the chilly, wet spring.
